Gay Marriage Banned in Alabama, United States of America

Chief Judge of Alabama's Supreme Court, Justice Roy Moore, on Wednesday requested the state's probate judges not to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples in spite of a decision by the U.S. Preeminent Court a year ago legitimizing gay marriage.

Supporting his request, Justice Moore said Alabama judges were bound by the state Supreme Court's decision last March stopping same-sex marriage until that court decides the impact on the condition of the national decision.
