A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has conceded bail to a
previous director of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Haliru Bello, and
his child, Abba, in the sum of N300 million each.
Justice Ahmed Mohammed, in his decision on the bail
applications by the previous PDP executive and his child, held that they are
qualified for bail as the offenses they are accused of does not carry the death
penalty.
Likewise, the court said the charged persons ought to give
two sureties, one of which should be a common worker on the level of an
executive, who must have a landed property in Abuja worth N300 million.
Justice Mohammed also held that for Haliru Bello to be
discharged on bail, his sureties must pledge to a sworn statement of means and
the particulars of the sureties might be checked by the court. They will
likewise submit title documents of the landed property to the court.
While Abba is to be come back to Kuje jail in Abuja until be
consummates his safeguard conditions, the previous PDP supervisor will stay
under the guardianship of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) at the Abuja
Clinics where he is at present accepting treatment, as prior requested by the
court.
The case has been adjourned till February 16, 2016 for
trial.
